GC Cook's Purple Heart Medal
G.C. Cook served in the United States Marine Corps
G.C. Cook, son of John G. Cook, Sweetwater, Texas.
A graduate of Sylvester High School, Sylvester, Texas.
Called to active duty last August with the Houston Marine Corps Reserve unit. He left the States on Sept. 1.
7th Marines, 1st Marine Division
Cook, aged 26, was wounded while serving as a machine-gun section leader. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for wounds received at Sudong, Korea, last Nov. 2. Presentation was made by Colonel H.L. Litzenberg, Jr., commanding the Seventh Marine Infantry Regiment.
